Hey Potty Training Moms, if you have a child who's suddenly not going on the potty after being trained for a while, or starting to demand diapers again, you may want to check out our latest podcast on The Real Parenting Show. It's all about tips and techniques for dealing with Potty Training Regression! Listen (and subscribe!) here: http://bit.ly/AsTvp

Jackie-Lee: Yes, unfortunately, even a simple event like an outing to the zoo, not to mention a birthday or holiday, or like you a vacation, that interrupts the initial potty training can derail it, but usually only temporarily. Slow down, go back to the basics, don't push, and she'll start up again! It may be that she saw how "great" it was to be a baby, and decided to copy her cousin. Keep talking about how great it is to be a big girl, and the kinds of things potty trained girls can do that girls in diapers can't, and she'll start to realize an incentive to train. Good luck!

Joanne: Good luck with #4! It is tough with so much going on in a large household, and the big kids being in school will help. Maybe some of the older ones could be recruited to the cause? :)

Starting to potty train number 4. She's interested, but it's hard to find consistency with so much going on with the others. (Almost looking forward to school starting to get some routine back in the house) The first 3 were all different experiences...2 stubborn and were 3+ when all was said and done; and one which I can't remember what I did, it just seems like one day she starting using the potty at 2 1/2. I'm obviously hoping number 4 has the quick realization, however, I'm prepared for the long haul.

GRRRR my 3 year old finally decided she wanted to go on the potty ~ things went really smoothly. She was having no accidents during the day or night for a few weeks. Then last week we had to go out of town to visit grandparents ~ her little cousin (2) was there, and was very mine mine mine about everything ~ I seriously think Hanna was worried that whatever she was touching would be gone when she came back ~ but she completely refused to go on the toilet.

I figured once we got home things would get back to normal ~ it's weird she went to the zoo with my mom a couple days ago and wore a pull up but went to the toilet the whole day ~ otherwise ~ she refuses to wear big girl panties or go to the bathroom on the toilet. She does have a cold, so I guess I'm just needing reassurance that it old habits will come back??

Any ideas or suggestions? She's very strong willed and doesn't do much unless it is her idea.

thx,

Jackie

Hi Everyone! I have 5 kids and right at this moment i'm on my 4th one she is 3yrs old. I've been working with her since she turned 2, Its call The potty project like the huggies commercial. I try to make going to the potty a fun thing. Every time she goes i do a dance and give her a high five and i tell her great job. Thinking back to when i had my oldest its a little harder now. My oldest was potty trained by the age of 2.No problem. He is now 17yrs old . My second one she aslo started early at 2 she was going to the potty on her own. She is now 13yrs old. My third , she was the hardest, she suffered from constipation, so it was a bit difficult. We had to take her to the doctor .He gave her a powder medication that we had to add water and put a teaspoon of the medication in it to make her stool soft.,We use this after 4 mths she began to go on her own by this time she was already going on 4yrs old. she is now 7 yrs old.I also have a 2 yr old . He will be the last of my potty project. When i see him pushing i try to get him to go to the potty and he refuses. He goes to his corner and hides then he tells me mommy change my pamper. So i think i'm going to have a difficult time. but i love it potty training is the best milestone ever. Enjoy it .They will shock you ,when they are ready you will know. They start pulling on there pampers and leaving them everywhere. My experience on potty training my way. Nanette. with my oldest i let his father show him, Its easier. I'm going do the same with my little guy.

I guess I will stay in the group being that I have 1 more to be potty trained. This time it's my son. How will I teach him to use the potty? Do I let my husband do it?
